The Story of Ashover Brass Band covers its history between 1837

to 1936, and from when it was reformed in 1972 to today, 2022.

It is full on anecdotes, both amusing and sad from both the New Band and the Old Band. It records the historical and social history and events, both nationally and in Ashover, that were current at the time. While not being the most learned publication on the subject it also touches on the wider Brass Band Movement in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. ‘A Village Band’ will be of defi nite interest to both past and present member of Ashover Brass Band and their families, and should also interest other Ashover residents and brass band players both locally and further afi eld. It may just also inspire others to join the brass band movement.
