It was spring 1945 and a young man of 20 by the name of George Henry Tagg

enrolled into the Merchant Navy pool with orders to report to the M.V. Silverteak

in Gladstone Dock, Liverpool to become a marine engineer.

The war in Europe had ended earlier in May but the oilfields and British Forces

in the Persian Gulf still needed supplies. From there his adventures began.

Often humorous, he describes the people like Captain Morgan, what a name,

the places he visited around the world and his experiences on and off ship.

It is a testament to his memory from that time and the many photographs

and documents contained in this book bring his memoirs to life.
